Mm, I don't know the significance of the spot either.

[And as of right now, he didn't have a way to analyze it either. It's another mystery for another day. For now, it's time to play with teleporting!

He'll watch Hunter teleport, trying to make sense of his process. It really is impressively fast. In return, he'll raise up his hand with the first two fingers out. There's a burst of blue light, before he disappears and reappears a few feet from where Hunter went. While it's not slow, it is a second or two slower than Hunter.

Curiously, he'll ask:]

What's your process?

[Hunter pauses where he is, lowering his staff a little and watching Jun's display of teleportation. It doesn't seem all that different from his own which, on the one hand, is very interesting.

On the other hand, similar magic to Flapjack means wild magic. Part of him is uncertain, and a little guilty for that interest.

At the question, he looks down at Flapjack at the end of the staff. The bird's presence is a reassurance.]

It's a little hard to explain.

[It isn't the same as using his artificial staff. Wild magic has definite differences, and at first it was weird. But he's adapted quickly.]

He's letting me use his magic. It's something of a partnership between us. I focus on his magic, and what I want to do with it, and then do it.

[Ironically enough, it's not wild magic but Jesus magic. Not that your puritan asshole of an "uncle" could recognize the God's will even it cleaved him in the face.

But he seems to be following along with the explanation. ]

Interesting. I assume there's a telepathic connection of some kind? [Because he sure didn't witness any exchange between the two.

As for himself...]

I have to focus on where I want to go, and think an incantation - "Lux portat nos".

[Belos wakes up every day and chooses violence.

Hunter nods.]

It's a mental bond, it's something witches are able to do with palismen when the share a common goal or wish. It means I can understand him, now.

What does that mean, "lux portat nos"?

[WHEEZES. ]

I see, no wonder you two are so close! I'm a little envious.

[Having a cute animal friend as your magic power and being so closely connected. That sounds rad. He has a pokemon, sure, but....Alisa the Sylveon has fully embraced the spoiled indoor pet life. ]

"The light carries us" - it's Latin, an old Earth language.

[Yeah, Hunter can understand that envy. He's so, so attached to the little bird.]

I see. Does that mean your teleportation is connected to light magic?

[There's a very brief pause as Jun contemplates the idea of having to explain the Lord to a witch from the demon realm who has probably never seen a church in his whole life.

...Mmmmm, yeah. Pass. That'd take way too many words.]

Mm. Something like that, I think.

[Hunter is woefully lacking in religious knowledge, but he looks very interested regardless.]

You aren't sure?

Well...

[He hesitates. Hunter was open with him when it's clearly something personal, so he feels a little guilty hiding ]

...I have a few theories, but nothing confirmed. But...

[He'll reach over and touch the upper part of his right arm with his left fingers. A glowing mark appears. Notably, it's the same emblem that's on various parts of his uniform. It also has the same kind of glow that the doors at the Madrigal's casita does.]

All I really know my powers began increasing after I got this mark.

[Oh!!! Hunter steps closer, zeroing in on the mark, looking utterly fascinated!]

It's a sigil! [Or, well. Maybe he's getting ahead of himself there. He stops, then pulls his sleeve up and his glove down so that Jun can see his Emperor's Coven brand on the inside of his wrist.] It could be similar to a Coven sigil. Every witch that's joined a coven has one.

A sigil?

[He'll stop tapping his own seal mark, the glowing disappearing, so he can look at what Hunter's showing him. That sure looks like an ornate tattoo alright.]

Do sigils give Coven witches power?

[......Also what happens if he pokes it, like he's already moving his finger to do just that]

[Nothing! Nothing happens!! Except Hunter looking a little bit awkward.]

No. Most of the sigils seal off a witch's magic, so they're limited to the magic of their coven. The Emperor's Coven sigil is unique in that it doesn't do any sealing. They all glow during the initial branding, though.

[No glowing huh. He'll stop poking it and pull his hand away, making a thoughtful sound]

Hmm....sounds like they're both meant to mark something, but have opposite purposes. [One gives power but the other takes away]

Maybe. Do any of those memories you've been regaining have that mark in them?

[He's wondering if this is related to those, or if it's something new related to the ley lines and Kaisou's magic.]

[He shrugs]

Not sure. My arm's always covered in the memories.

[Which the seal is the exact reason for that, but not like he knows that]

Hmmm.

[Hunter rubs his chin thoughtfully, thinking.]

You need a memory where your arm isn't covered. That should clear this up.

[He's quiet, considering what it'd take trigger that.]

...Mm, that's a thought, but I don't have the body to walk around shirtless until I triggered that. [He is a complete and utter twink]

[Hunter opens his mouth, and then closes it, no noise coming out.

He is very unsure what to do with that. Give him a second.]

Maybe... come up with a way to trigger your memories in general first, then focus on your sigil.

[He considers this! Before nodding] Good thinking.

Anyway, you mentioned you use your teleportation in fights. [He'll hold out his hand and in a flash of light a massive sword appears. And by massive I mean it's easier a foot or two taller than either of them.

And he's holding it with one hand like it's absolutely no big deal. And continues talking like summoning a massive sword is perfectly normal.]

Can I see it?

[That - holy Titan, that's a big sword. And Jun is totally scrawny, how is he holding it with one hand?? He must have some kind of magic to assist with heavy objects, that's the most likely explanation.

Hunter takes a few moments to get over his surprise, before adjusting his grip on his staff and nodding.]

Sure, that's fine.

[And he immediately teleports behind Jun to whack him with the Flapjack end of the staff.]

[Jun notices the surprise, but he doesn't comment. If no questions are asked, then he'll answer none!!

Besides it's time to fight. Which the immediate teleport and attack from behind catches him off guard. Hunter manages to land a hit on him. The shroud thankfully absorbs most of the blow, so it just makes him flinch and make a sound.

But don't worry, he's not mad. This is what he asked for! So he'll respond by spinning around and swinging that sword as he does so- straight at Hunter.]

[Unfortunately for Jun, there's another flash of gold and then Hunter is gone, reappearing a few feet to the side.

Well within striking range of Jun's sword, for very good reason. If Jun can actually wield that massive thing then he needs to take the time and see how he uses it - how fast he can swing it, how he balances with it - in order to formulate a good offense and defense. A staff, after all, isn't going to stand up to a giant blade in a head-to-head fight, he's going to have to be smart about this.]

[Forget the staff, Hunter wouldn't stand up to this blade if it manages to land. Jun's sure his dad or August would be yelling their heads off if they knew he was sparring someone like this- but then it's a good thing they aren't here!

Jun's watching Hunter's teleporting closely, trying to pick up on how he does it. The timing and how far he jumps. Because of that and the kid's own reflexes, he'll find that Jun's reaction time is fast. No sooner than Hunter teleports is he turning the blade to swing towards him in his new direction - diverting it with the ease of a small blade rather than a massive claymore]

[Oh shit. Hunter was expecting that with a blade of that size Jun would have to be hefting it around at least a little bit, but it's like that thing is another limb to him. He's effortless in the way he's using that sword.

Hunter has to teleport again to avoid getting bisected, this time reappearing just out of range of Jun. Okay, well, he's got a much better idea of how the other boy is wielding that thing, so check that off the list. He disappears again, teleporting behind Jun, then again, appearing to his left, then again and above - basically a whole barrage of teleporting to try and discombobulate him.]

[It is pretty impressive, how Hunter is able to teleport in such quick succession. He'll have to try working on his own teleporting timing to do that. But for now he's staying on the ground. At first he turns to swing at his friend- but before the blade can get near, Hunter's teleporting all over the place to discombobulate him. It's a good tactic really!

Unfortunately, Jun finally decides rather than trying to chase him? He does a full quick spin with his blade, ribbons of light trailing after his blade as he swings. ]
