[Oh, hey, he knows what to do here! He makes a fist and awkwardly bumps it against Jun's.]

[Heck yeah fistbump! He'll bump fists with Hunter before lowering his arm.

And ah. A thank you. he's never been good at these. For a moment, he looks a little sheepish]

D...Don't mention it.

[Ever. Again. Anyway time for a distraction--]

Hey, keep the staff positioned here, ok?

[And that's the only warning Jun will give before he immediately jumps off it]

[Thank the Titan Hunter knows Jun can teleport. Still, he moves to grab the other boy as soon as he jumps off the staff, but freezes when his brain catches up to him.

Okay, okay Jun just did that. Hunter keeps the staff floating in midair, thoroughly confused.]

[Look this is just how he does things! He'll let himself free fall until he's about halfway down, and then there's a flash of blue light as he teleports-

- And immediately reappears next to the staff, where he grabs on with one arm before he falls out of range again.]

Ha- did it!

[There it is! The staff wobbles when Jun reappears and grabs onto it, and Hunter grins.]

Not bad. A bit more practice and you'll be teleporting around in a fight in no time.

[He's grinning too as he pulls himself up]

Thanks to your demonstration. [Modest as always, but he's also proud of himself] I think the key is not thinking too much on it. Concerns about being precise were slowing me down.

[Hunter is just happy to hear someone is taking him seriously. That doesn't happen very often.]

Precision will come with practice. If you think about it like another appendage like a finger, there's a lot of fine dexterity that you have to develop over time. But once you do you stop overthinking it, because you've trained your brain and your muscles to coordinate together.

Mm...that's good advice. I think how I was trained to use my telekinesis. [Which is why despite him not being able to lift large stuff with it, his movements are very precise] It would benefit to do the same with my new powers.

At least teleportation will be easy enough to practice. Finding targets for the sword work may be harder.

[Because...yeah can't see many people volunteering to spar against something that deadly]

[He nods at that, and the mention of that sword has Hunter curious.]

Is that how you can lift that weapon so easily? You're using telekinesis in conjunction with your physical strength?

[He shakes his head]

Not quite, my telekinesis couldn't lift a sword that large. Until pretty recently, I used to have a normal level of strength for my size. [IE: tiny af. ] But one day, I was suddenly much stronger.

...It's been an adjustment. I've broken some dishes and door handles.

[Well, that's unusual.

(Hunter is also a little envious. He's never suddenly woken up with magical powers and he's a witch, but he tries to ignore that feeling.)]

Do you know what caused the change?

[Look if it makes you feel better Hunter, his powers come with the price of 95% traumatic memories for his regains. Also no cute bird friends]

A furby?

[He says it deadpan, but really he's joking]

No, I don't. If I had to guess, it has something to do with the seal mark on my arm.

[The lack of a cute bird friend is very rough.

Hunter looks thoughtful.]

Interesting. Usually in the Boiling Isles the sigil marks do the opposite. [They restrict magic, not enable it.] We should run some more tests.

The opposite? [oh yeah, Hunter mentioned that before] Oh right, the Coven system. So the sigils are how it's managed.

[Which again, feels a little weird to him, but he's not about to pass judgement on another person's culture]

If it helps me learn more about the mark, I'd be for doing more tests. [He always prefer gathering clear evidence and information, when possible.]

[Hunter nods.] It's how the TItan wants us to use magic, it's always protected people.

[So for the opposite to be happening with Jun is... unnerving, but Hunter isn't going to just abandon his friend over this.]

Okay, good. We can start with coming up with a list of any abilities you had pre-seal, and what you have now. Then we test your abilities to find out the extent of them.

I see. [Considers that] Well, the Titans of Earth were overthrown if the stories are true, so I suppose it'd make sense your Titan would want to keep their people's powers in check...

[you know, to avoid that happening again. Makes sense to Jun! If only they knew the true story.

He nods.] Makes sense. Before the seal appeared, I only had my telekinesis and some low level telepathy. I've had these abilities as long as I can remember, but neither are particularly remarkable as far as powers go. I never really got into spells or potions either. [Sure he read about stuff, but he really did try to live a normal life like his dad wanted]

After the seal appeared.... [He'll count them off on his fingers.] Teleportation. I can summon this uniform and my sword at will. My strength, speed, and reflexes have all improved. And I can summon a light arrow.

[So...a lot!]

Of course. It's for the safety of everyone.

[It's a perfectly reasonable explanation! They come from the Titan, so obviously the Titan wants them to stay safe.

Hunter taps his chin thoughtfully, contemplative.]

It sounds like the seal is preparing you for combat situations. All of those abilities and your weapon combined together would make you incredibly formidable in a fight.

[Safety huh....]

Mm, that's been my conclusion too. The memories I've received line up with that too.[Fights, so many fights.

He pauses, unsure if he should voice something. But Hunter said he was taken in by someone too, so maybe he'll get it.]

...I don't think my dad likes it. He tries to be understanding, but I can tell he's worried. He wants me to have a "normal life".

I don't want to disappoint him, so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.

[Hunter is at least glad his guess sounds correct. If he was wrong he isn't sure what the reason for these powers could be - it could be entirely random, and he doesn't really like the thought of that. If there's a reason, a logical one, then it's easier for Jun.

It already sounds difficult for him, especially when he has to consider disappointing his father. Hunter chews on his lower lip.]

Then you have to try and have a normal life. [After all, the worst thing in the world is disappointing someone who thinks you're special.] He cares about you and probably wants to make sure you stay safe, and the best way to do that is to make sure you aren't getting into anything dangerous. That means no fights, or nothing that would mean you have to use those abilities or your sword.

[Welp. There's that logic again. It's not the first time Jun has heard it. Not even the second time, really. He makes an unhappy expression, because it sucks to hear it come from a friend rather than another adult, but lets out a resigned sigh]

....Yeah, you're probably right. You're not the first to tell me that.

[He doesn't like it. He likes fighting and not using these powers feels like a waste. he pause]

But you do realize that means I won't be able help get you the god blood, right?

[Hunter is the absolute worst person to bring this up with, he doesn't even realize he's projecting his own issues onto Jun's situation. As far as he can tell this is a straightforward situation that can be solved by just... not disappointing Jun's father.

Except Jun is bringing up something Hunter didn't think of, and he frowns severely.]

That's... fine. If we need to fight for it we'll come up with a plan that gets us the blood, and keeps you out of danger. There has to be a way we can do both.

[Hunter might be misguided and projecting....but Jun sincerely finds that response sweet. He'd been used a lot as a tool, an asset, through his life. And in his past life too, if the memories indicate anything. And he's sure he's more useful than ever now with this power of his. And here Hunter was, caring more about Jun's relationship to his father than using him to his full potential for his own plan.]

...Thank you, Hunter.

[For caring. He made the right call, becoming friends]

But I do want to help get you home, like I promised. So...how about this? If we need it, I'll use my power. And then once you're back on the Boiling Isles, I'll give it up. I'll live out a normal, danger-free life.

If it's to help a friend, I'm sure my Dad would understand.

[Apparently that's a good move. Hunter gives a small nod, glad they're on their way to figuring this out. He's glad he can help, too; he doesn't usually do this sort of thing.]

It's no problem.

[That seems like a fair enough compromise to him. It's selfish of him, but he knows he has a much better chance of acquiring god's blood if it's the two of them working together. On the other hand, if he was in Jun's position... he'd pick Belos over anyone else.]

Alright, we've got a plan. [They've got this!!] I appreciate you not wanting to give up on this. Your father should trump everything else, you're risking a lot by helping me.

[That seems to be a compromise Hunter is willing to accept, so good. He...doesn't actually know if he can keep to the "normal life" end of the deal. If his power is from who he suspects it is, that might not be an option in the end.

...But that isn't Hunter's problem. He needs to sort that out himself.]

He usually does, my dad means a lot to me. [He's not denying that. His Dad's done so much for him] But it'll be alright. He wouldn't throw me out or harm me. Most likely I'd just get a lecture.

Or if it's real bad... [He swallows] His disappointed face. A-And in worst case .... [He makes a small whine noise, getting nerves just thinking about it] H-His truly disappointed tone....

[Jun has only reached that last stage once before. And by God, he's done everything in his power not to live through that again because it is worse than anything and that's coming from a kid that was raised by an abusive cult. ]

B-But it'll be fine. As long as we're not too reckless, it shouldn't go that badly.

[Hunter knows that Jun is in an incredibly difficult situation, and he doesn't want to make it any worse than it has to be.]

Oh. I see. [That's... certainly different. Only a lecture.

He nods slowly, at least understanding what it's like to get a disappointed face and tone. It's always painful when Belos gets to that level of disappointment - for both of them - and he always tries his very hardest to avoid it.]

We won't be. We're both capable people, even if we're dealing with gods we can handle it.

[There's no way he'll let Jun go through the pain of a disappointed parental figure, not if he can help it.]
